~ Sin ~
Small word, heavy topic. It’s universal; but who likes thinking about it? Yet if we’re honest, it’s a daily ordeal.
I like the the way the NLT puts it in Galatians 5:17
The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.
Here’s the point: A proper Biblical view of sin is so important to understanding and *appreciating* God’s remedy for it in Christ.
Biblically, there are two, and only two spiritual conditions before God:
In Christ; or
Even if we are in Christ now, we know what it means to be in Sin: It’s Personal, it’s Passed down (through a sin nature) and it’s Positional since we all were once under the ‘curse of the Law’ (Gal 3:13).
Thanks again for your interest, attention and participation. I’ve attached the slides with the supporting verse references. Lord willing, in the coming weeks, we will move on to Faith, and the victory we have over these things through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. (Col 1:13-14 NASB)
